Join RMC alumni, students, faculty,
and staff, as well as community members, for an evening with Tom
Shoop, author of A
Place Called Ilda, the compelling history of a racially integrated
community in northern Virginia established after the Civil War by two Black
entrepreneurs and their families. The book features the story of Dennis Howard
’72, the first four-year Black graduate of RMC. This event is sponsored by RMC’s Multicultural Alumni Association and open to the community free of charge. Join in-person at Birdsong Hall or virtually by Zoom (link will be emailed on Monday, February 17). Copies of A Place Called
Ilda can be found at McGraw-Page Library and Amazon.
