Carter Park

Nestled between South Center Street and Maple Street, Carter Park is the heart of Ashland’s park system. This vibrant space offers something for everyone! Take a dip in the junior Olympic-size swimming pool, ride down the slide, or splash in the kiddie pool. Year-round, you can shoot some hoops on the half basketball court, enjoy a meal at the picnic shelter and picnic area, let the kids explore the playground, or venture along the scenic gravel trails winding through the woods.

Carter Park serves as the northern trailhead for the Fall Line Trail and has the following amenities:

  • Restrooms
  • Water fountains
  • Parking
  • Bike repair station
  • ADA accessible playground
  • Public pool (seasonal)
  • Picnic shelter and tables
  • Half-basketball court

An extension trail from Carter Park to downtown Ashland (1 mile in length) connects trail users with the Center of the Universe, including shopping, dining, and lodging. The trail is signed, and continues north on Maple St from Carter Park to Robinson St and the Ashland Library.

If you’re riding through or in Ashland we have a bike repair station located in the parking lot nearest Ashcake Road. There’s also plenty of parking for folks who want to visit the newly opened Fall Line Trail.
